Mortgage Lead Provider Popularity Contest

Most conversations about mortgage lead providers start with, “they all suck,” but that obviously isn’t true since lead generation is one of the fastest growing advertising segments.

So, if there are good ones out there how do I find them? Lead Critic has a creative way–run a popularity contest! 

I lead with a little jest in this post, but I think it is a creative and fun idea. And, one with potentially a little value. Here are a few reasons I think this is something you should consider in your lead buying decision (probably not your highest weighing factor, but some consideration):

  • If you assume, which I do, that many of the Lead Critic readers are lead providers themselves–then the results may reflect a general perception of the lead providers amongst their peers
  • If you assume, which I know, some of the voters are going to be lead management software providers–then you know they are seeing a lot of indicative data as to the best performing lead providers over an extended time horizon
  • If you assume, which is probably true (maybe as a small percentage though), that some of the lead raters will be actual buyers then this will indicate both performance and perception of working with the actual lead provider as a marketing partner
Or, of course, you can assume that it just represents who can rally enough of their employees to vote for them.
I am going to lean towards the opinion that it is a fun and creative survey and you should check it out and maybe give it a little weight in your next lead buying decision.
